Chancellor and Mrs. Miller Host Reception for Distinguished Seahawk Faculty

Chancellor and Mrs. Miller hosted a reception on April 15 in the Burney Center to thank and recognize Distinguished Seahawk Faculty. The event celebrated the dedication and enthusiasm of outstanding faculty. Among the guests were UNCW faculty grant award recipients of the $1 Million and $5 Million Club, faculty teaching award winners and members of the Faculty Senate.

“Our faculty are an inspiration not only to your fellow faculty and members of the community, but also to every single student at UNCW,” said Chancellor Miller in his welcoming remarks.
        
Faculty Teaching Award Winners:
Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching: Peter W. Schuhmann, Economics and Finance
Board of Trustees Excellence Award: Patricia H. Kelley, Geography and Geology
Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award: Cara Cilano, English
Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award: Paolo Almeida, Chemistry and Biochemistry; Herb Berg, International Studies
Distinguished Scholarly Engagement and Public Service Award: Clarice Sue Combs, School of Health and Applied Human Sciences
Distinguished Teaching Professorship Award: Patricia H. Kelley, Geography and Geology; Sridhar Varadarajan, Chemistry and Biochemistry
