Lori Messinger, professor and director of the UNCW School of Social Work, has been selected to participate in the 6th Cohort of the Leadership Academy in Aging. The national, year-long leadership development program is supported through a partnership between the New York Academy of Medicine’s Social Work Leadership Institute, the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work, and the John A. Hartford Foundation. The Leadership Academy assists social work deans and directors to further develop as leaders in the field of aging care, with specific training in management, leadership development, legislative outreach, media relations, community development, fundraising, and faculty relations.
Messinger, currently in her third year at UNCW, is excited about this opportunity to further develop her skill set. “I hope that participating in the Leadership Academy helps me to be a stronger leader for the UNCW School of Social Work as we continue to develop our identity and influence within the university and the larger community,” she said.
