UNCW Hosts Accessible Recreation Day on April 19

Accessible Recreation Day, held on the campus of UNCW, showcases recreation opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Coastal Carolina Partnership for Accessible Recreation (CCPAR) will hold their 11th annual Accessible Recreation Day at UNCW’s Student Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.on Friday April 19. 

Accessible Recreation Day showcases recreation opportunities for persons with disabilities. All activities are adapted for people of all ages who are wheelchair users, as well as those with other physical disabilities. Clinics are available as well as ongoing demonstrations and opportunities for casual participation facilitated by elite wheelchair athletes and others trained in accessibility and adapted equipment.

CCPAR is a collaboration among UNCW’s Recreation Therapy Curriculum – School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, Department of Campus Recreation, and the Disability Resource Center; New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation Hospital; NC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation – Independent Living Services; NC Assistive Technology Program; Wilmington Disabled Athletic Association;  Wilmington Disabled Athletic Association; Wilmington Family YMCA, and the Wounded Warrior Battalion East.
