Peter Trachtenberg and Robert Anthony Siegel to read from Collected Works Feb. 28
Monday, February 25, 2013
The UNCW Department of Creative Writing will host a reading of fiction and nonfiction by guest writer Peter Trachtenberg and faculty member Robert Anthony Siegel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 in Kenan Hall room 1111.
Trachtenberg’s latest work of nonfiction, Another Insane Devotion, a meditation on love and marriage, was named a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice. He’s also the author of 7 Tattoos: A Memoir in the Flesh and The Book of Calamities: Five Questions About Suffering and Its Meaning, which won the Phi Beta Kappa Society’s 2009 Ralph Waldo Emerson Award. His essays and news stories have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, A Public Space, and The New York Times Travel Magazine. He is an assistant professor of creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh.
Siegel is the author of two novels, All the Money in the World and All Will Be Revealed. The Legal Times calls him “living proof that a novelist can make a thrilling debut without writing a thriller…” and the Atlanta Journal Constitution has praised his work as, “Well-turned and elegant . . . gloriously complex.” His short prose has appeared and is set to appear in Tin House, Ploughshares, The Oxford American and Best American 2012. He is an associate professor of creative writing at UNCW.
This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow, along with a book signing sponsored by Pomegranate Books. For further information on programs and events, contact the UNCW Department of Creative Writing at 910.962.7063 or visit www.uncw.edu/writers.
