Friends of UNCW Accepting Request for Grant Proposals Through Feb. 13
Thursday, January 24, 2013
The Friends of UNCW offers is accepting submissions for their annual grants - an award process that takes place each spring.
The Friends of the Library was founded in 1963 to assist in the accreditation of Wilmington College. As the college grew to a university, the Friends of UNCW was established. The organization supports and promotes educational, scientific and charitable projects on behalf of the university. The Friends seek proposals for projects that will directly benefit departments and don't require substantial amounts of money.
In 2012, The Friends received 35 grant requests from 23 departments totaling $52,000. Eleven awards totaling $8,178.35 were awarded to 10 departments, with individual grant amounts ranging from $440 to $1,556. As in years past, it is anticipated more requests will be received than can be funded. The selection process will involve careful study and evaluation of each proposal.
The funding period for grants is July 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014; only projects and/or purchases that can be completed during this time frame will be considered. In addition, all requests for funds must be approved by the Dean/Department Chair of the requesting area to ensure that the request complies with the educational, research or service mission of the university.
