ART HISTORY
Amanda Summerlin (Art History ’10)

reports that she has been selected to be an intern at the National Portrait Gallery this fall. Amanda will be an intern for the Docent and Internship Program at the museum.

Kendall Martin (Art History ’10)

is currently working on her MA in Art History at the University of West Virginia. She will be presenting a paper, "Blanche Lazzell and the white line wood-block prints" at the SECAC conference in Savannah in November.

Sarah Richardson (Art History ’10)

is currently working on her MA in Art History at the University of Richmond in London.

Mallory Nanny (Art History ’10)

is currently working on her MA in Art History at the University of Richmond in London.

Ashley Barnett (Art History ’11)

is beginning work on her MA in Art History at the University of Richmond London.

STUDIO ART
Mark Krucke (Studio ’10)

has been actively exhibiting since graduation. Recent national exhibitions include:

Mark's sculpture Fortitude in a Steel Forest (pictured right) was exhibited last year in the Salmagundi XIV national competition in Rocky Mount NC, Juror Hoss Haley, awarded the piece Best In Show.

Charmaine Ortiz (Studio ’08)

was awarded the Combined Honors Fellowship from Savannah College of Art and Design to fund her graduate studies in SCAD's Painting (Master in Fine Arts) AND Art History Departments (Masters). After Completing her MFA in 2010, SCAD recognized her with the Encore Thesis Award, a college-wide award which recognizes the most outstanding MFA thesis exhibitions of the previous year. This juried award reviews graduate MFA students (across all fine arts disciplines including painting, fibers, jewelery, illustration, etc.) from SCAD- Savannah, SCAD- Atlanta, and SCAD- Hong Kong, whereby noteworthy MFA graduates are nominated by their respective department chairs and then reviewed for the final award by SCAD faculty, exhibition staff, the Fine Arts Dean and SCAD's President, Paula Wallace. The Encore Series" Award Exhibition, honors the three juried finalists from the top M.F.A. thesis exhibitions with a traveling exhibition. This year the Encore Series Award Exhibition was held at the Woodruff Center for the Arts, in Atlanta, GA (this past April, 2011), and at the Pei Ling Chan Gallery in Savannah, GA (September 2011).

Ortiz also received an Artist Grant and Work Exchange Award to attend a residency at the Vermont Studio Center, in Johnson Vermont for the month of January, 2012.
