Choosing this Minor The minor in forensic science is rigorous. It is first and foremost important to understand that forensic science is the application of principles, methods, and or techniques derived from myriad sciences to situations of legal (i.e., forensic) importance. If you are interested in pursuing your education in, and developing a career around, forensic science, then please note that you must select a major in a science or social science, earn a high grade point average (GPA), and seriously dedicate yourself to coursework that may not directly involve forensic science at the outset. The minor comprises general science and social science courses that may or may not directly address forensic science issues. Rather, these courses for the minor will provide you with the very necessary rudimentary skills and basic theoretical perspectives that lay the foundation for future advanced courses and on-the-job training. The forensic application of any science is developed as a highly specialized focus after the general education in a science is obtained.
