Missy Kennedy '01 Selected as Associate Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
University Advancement is excited to announce Missy Kennedy '01 as the new Associate Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. Missy was selected at the culmination of a national search for potential candidates, and she will continue to work within the University Advancement leadership team to develop strategies and initiatives in support of the university’s philanthropic priorities. Her responsibilities include providing strategic leadership for the core advancement programs in Annual Giving, Communications, Donor Engagement and Parent Giving. Missy will often represent the division, on behalf of Vice Chancellor Eddie Stuart, in relationships with university leaders including other vice chancellors, deans and directors as well as in a variety of institutional capacities. Most importantly, Missy will work across and beyond the division to help the Vice Chancellor develop strategies to elevate the level of philanthropic giving and alumni engagement to support UNCW’s strategic vision.
Missy will leave her current role as the Director of Development for Annual Giving, where she served for seven years. She previously served for two years as the Assistant Director for Annual Giving. Prior to that position, she was Promotions Director for a local media group and a Development Specialist for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation.
Missy is a native of High Point, N.C., and is a 2001 graduate of UNCW with a B.A. in Communication Studies. With her strategic and collaborative approach to philanthropy, her leadership is a great addition for our advancement core team and division.
