Admission
If you are interested in applying to UNCW and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree offered through UNCW Distance Education you may access information about the degree programs that we offer by visiting the Extension and Online pages of our website.
Non-Degree Seeking Admission
Permission (Fall and Spring ONLY)
Students from other colleges or universities, who intend to return to their home institution, may attend UNCW as permission (visiting) students in the fall or spring semesters. A student may only attend as a permission student for two consecutive semesters (not including summer sessions).
Summer Visiting (Summer School ONLY)
Summer visiting students (those currently enrolled at another institution) are allowed to attend classes at UNCW for Summer School only.
Special Undergraduate Admission
Students who have graduated from a four-year accredited college or university and want to take undergraduate classes, but do not want to earn a second degree, are classified as special undergraduates (If you would like to earn a second degree, you must apply as a transfer student).
This application option is also available for students who need to take classes toward completion of teacher certification or licensure requirements on-campus (or at an extension site).
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees are charged according to the course's assigned campus (main campus or extension) and not the student campus of record. When using SEANET to register please note that the Extension courses are listed with section numbers 800 or higher and a campus designation of "EXT." Only these sections of courses are billed at the Extension tuition rates which are calculated on a per credit hour basis. All other section numbers are considered on-campus courses and are billed as such.
Tuition, fee rates and payment options, for both the Wilmington and Extension campuses can be accessed through the link listed below. Ultimately, it is the student's responsibility to know the tuition rates that apply to their courses.
UNCW Tuition and Fees (all campuses)
Student Health Insurance (Extension requirements/exemptions)
If I am in the military and using Tuition Assistance to pay for my classes, will all of my tuition and fees be covered if I take classes at the main campus in Wilmington or a main campus online class?
No TA only covers the Extension Campus rates and fees (see above). You will be responsible for all additional fees, including mandatory fees, which vary depending on how many main campus credits you take.
