UNC Wilmington Celebrates 31st Annual Business Week

Wilmington, N.C. - The UNCW Cameron School of Business will hold its 31st Annual Business Week March 19-20 to help prepare students for the realities of the business world.
The 2013 program includes more than 100 sessions with successful alumni and business leaders, who plan to share their knowledge and experience in the areas of accounting, business, entrepreneurship, marketing, information technology and more.
Speakers include: Brett Martin, chief executive officer of Castle Branch; Rand Nickerson, founder of OpinionLab; and Diana Henriques, award-winning investigative reporter and author of The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust.
Henriques is also giving a public lecture at 7:30 p.m., March 20, at the Burney Center. The co-sponsor is the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Tickets for her public lecture are $8 for OLLI members, $10 for the general public, and free for UNCW students, faculty and staff.
At an alumni breakfast on March 20, the Cameron School of Business will recognize the 2013 honorees for Alumni of the Year.
- Robin L. Diehl, Class of 1990
She is the Chief Financial Officer and Director of the Office of Fiscal Management in the N.C. Department of Administration, which administers the budgeting, accounting, payroll and purchasing functions for the N.C. Department of Administration, Office of the Lt. Governor, N.C. Office of State Personnel, the N.C. State Ethics Commission, and the State Board of Elections.
- Jean Matney English, Class of 1996
She is currently the Vice President of IBM Software Demand Marketing. English has executive experience leading global marketing initiatives across information technology solutions, business solutions and currently nine software product divisions, supporting IBM's $25+ billion global software business.
- Bill Mayew, Class of 1997
He is an associate professor of accounting at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Mayew received his Ph.D. in Business Administration (accounting) from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and has been on the Fuqua faculty since graduation. He previously worked in accounting and financial reporting assurance at Ernst & Young.
