Ann Flack Boseman Scholarship Show
A UNCW student is selected annually by the faculty of the Department of Art and Art History for this merit-based honor. This is the only solo student exhibition hosted annually at the Boseman Gallery. Posted: No Ink in the Sink features the large-format woodcut, linocut and serigraph prints of the Ann Flack Boseman Art Exhibition Award recipient, Kara Garrett. Garrett is a studio art major focusing on printmaking and graphic design.
Kara Garrett is an artist living in Wilmington, NC. She began her art degree in 1989 in the BFA program at Arizona State University before taking a 17-year hiatus from her education to raise her two sons. Kara is now working towards a BA in Studio Art with a focus in printmaking from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She works mostly in screen printing and relief but also prints using varied intaglio processes.
Kara is a fourth generation Chicagoan although she considers herself to be from the whole of the Midwest. She is the product of a creative family, an artist father and writer mother, and her large extended family includes installation artists, painters, glass blowers, printmakers, illustrators, writers, poets, and graphic designers. She grew up surrounded by paintings & drawings, graphic art & illustrations, advertising & typography, and books; these influences are easily seen in her work.
