UNCW Grad Works on Star Wars TV Show

UNCW alum Cameron Detig ’21 had long known he wanted a job in the film industry, but it wasn’t until he saw behind-the-scenes footage of the Disney+ show “The Mandalorian” that he pinpointed his goal.

Mayra Robles ’18, ’23M

Mayra Robles’ connection with UNCW has come full circle. Her first interaction with the university began as a high school student. In December, Robles became a double alumna of the university, completing the Master of Public Administration program.

Coral Researchers Receive Global CORDAP Grants

Four UNCW faculty will receive nearly $2 million to advance their research to help save the world’s endangered coral reefs. The Coral Research and Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP), a global organization formed by 17 of the Group of Twenty (G20) nations, awarded UNCW two of 14 grants totaling $18 million to fast-track worldwide research and development for coral conservation and restoration.  

Daidone, Lidster Receive Spencer Grant

Dr. Danielle Daidone, assistant professor of Spanish, and Dr. Ryan Lidster, assistant professor of Japanese, in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, were awarded a $50,000 Spencer Foundation Small Research Grant on Education to develop a web-based platform for teaching second languages.
